Our Guiding Principles Are Integrity, Inclusion & Self Determination

To all our DSP’s (Direct Support Personnel) at PACC, WE THANK YOU! We appreciate you SO MUCH!  Our DSP/Habilitation aides are the backbone of this organization.  In these uncertain days, our DSPs ensure people with disabilities have the necessary supports to live, work, and enjoy life more independently in the community!

A MESSAGE FROM  TERESA MILLER THE SECRETARY OF THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES. Share this video with your fiends and your family. Direct Support Personal are the backbone of our mission at Pa Connecting Communities.  They love their job, but they have to survive during these critical times and help their clients who are also their very dear fiends.  Our DSPs are our heroes and they are our clients heroes.

Carroll: “I’ve been in the field for over 20 years and have loved every person I’ve been in contact with. Some say that we are special people to work in this field,  but I believe that the blessings I receive from these relationships are what make the job rewarding.  I enjoy experiencing life with my friends and helping them interact with the community opens my eyes to injustices and shows me how we should be with each other. The Golden Rule always applies, “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” My many friends do that, with love and acceptance of everyone. All of us can learn something from them.”

Denise: “I love being a DSP because it gives me the opportunity to meet individuals from all walks of life. We are able to be a part of an individual’s milestones and assist in exposing them to new personal growth opportunities that helps build their ideal life.   Marla and I do lots of different things. I never know where we may end up!”

Joel: “I have been in this field for 20+ years. I love this work because we connect with people and mutually enrich each other’s lives in a deeply gratifying way!”

Jeanette: “I became a DSP when I was in college. My uncle with whom I lived growing up had Down Syndrome. The relationship I had with him fostered my desire to become a DSP. I love watching people overcome obstacles and helping them get out and enjoy life. I truly look forward to going to work each day.”

Sean: “I’ve been a DSP for 2 1/2 years. Getting to hang with my guys every week truly feels like I’m hanging with my friends. We do things like play basketball, go golfing, and see movies. It feels good to know I am helping them feel included in their communities. That is a reward in itself.”

Kim: “I started volunteering at PACC events and it didn’t take long for me to realize that I needed to pursue it full-time. That was four years ago, and now I help to plan events and I’ve truly never been happier. Every day I get to spend at “work” is a blessing. It is the most rewarding & fun job I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else! I’m very thankful to work for PACC and to have clients that are truly like family!”

Holly: “I love being a DSP worker because I feel like I am actually making a difference in people’s lives. We build relationships and bonds with our individuals that you cannot build in any other field. They depend on us daily and it feels good to bring them happiness and give them the acceptance they need.”
